Fatal Road Collision – A1 Great North Road, Southbound, Long Bennington

This collision occurred at around 8:15am today (15/2/13) a blue Vauxhall Corsa with four passengers on board was in collision with a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) on the slip road, leading from the village of Long Bennington to the southbound carriageway of the A1.

A 17-year-old female passenger in the Corsa was certified as deceased at the scene. The 18-year-old driver was taken to Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham with arm and other injuries which are not believed life-threatening. Two other females in the car were not seriously injured.

The Corsa and its passengers are believed to be local to the area. The HGV is a Scania, the driver aged 52 from the Grimsby area is not thought to be injured.

Local diversions are in place.

This is the sixth death on the roads of Lincolnshire in 2013 compared to four over the same period in 2012 when the full year total was 39.
