On Thursday, 30th August 2012, a number of premises in the South of the county were tested for underage sales during an operation conducted by Lincolnshire Police Licensing Officers together with 15 and 16 year old volunteers.
The results were as follows:
Sams Newsagent, 39 Abbey Road, Bourne– sale refused – age requested – as the volunteers were not authorised to lie about their age and dates of birth, this premise will be contacted by Trading Standards and advised as regards best practice and requesting ID only – the premises will then be retested with measures to counter any request for age.
Cross Bros Spar, 47 Knight Street, Pinchbeck – sale refused ID requested – the premises will be advised of the test by Lincs Trading Standards and not retested unless new intelligence is received
B & M Stores, 12 Winsover Road, Spalding – sale of alcohol – the staff member was issued £80 fixed penalty and the Premises Licence Holder sent an advisory warning letter inviting them to meet to discuss the matter to prevent further sales – the premises will then be retested and any subsequent sale will result in a Police application to review the Licence to sell alcohol with a view to revoking that Licence.
Delicja, 20 Westlode Street, Spalding - sale of alcohol and tobacco – the staff member was issued £80 fixed penalty and the Premises Licence Holder sent an advisory warning letter inviting them to meet to discuss the matter to prevent further sales – the premises will then be retested and any subsequent sale will result in a Police application to review the Licence to sell alcohol with a view to revoking that Licence. The tobacco offence will be dealt with by Lincs Trading Standards
Jhay Store, 8 High Street, Kirton – sale refused ID requested - the premises will be advised of the test by Lincs Trading Standards and not retested unless new intelligence is received
International Food & Drink, 12 Red Lion Street, Boston - sale refused ID requested - the premises will be advised of the test by Lincs Trading Standards and not retested unless new intelligence is received
Alisa, 10 Red Lion Street, Boston - sale refused ID requested – the premise will be retested as the staff from International were seen to enter the store after refusing the volunteers and prior to the volunteers entering Alisa – suspect the volunteers were compromised
Dobsons, 74 High Street, Billingborough - sale refused ID requested - the premises will be advised of the test by Lincs Trading Standards and not retested unless new intelligence is received
Boston News, 33 Boston Road, Sleaford - sale of alcohol and tobacco – the staff member was issued £80 PND and the Premises Licence Holder sent an advisory warning letter inviting them to meet to discuss the matter to prevent further sales – the premises will then be retested and any subsequent sale will result in a Police application to review the Licence to sell alcohol with a view to revoking that Licence. The tobacco offence will be dealt with by Lincs Trading Standards
