Police are raising awareness of a spate of burglaries involving criminals getting into city houses through open doors and windows.
Despite the rain, temperatures are fairly high and we are experiencing the seasonal problem a burglary spike due to insecurities.
Recent examples include a criminal getting into a house in Norris Street, Lincoln, overnight June 26/27 through an open kitchen window. Cash and an X-Box were stolen.
Thieves also got into a house in Newark Road, Lincoln, through an unlocked kitchen door at about 12.30pm on June 28. A handbag containing cash and cards was taken.
Overnight on June 19/20 offenders also got into a house in Dellfield Avenue, Lincoln, through an unlocked front door. Two mobile phones, an X-Box, a Dell laptop and games were stolen.
Officers are urging to lock all doors and downstairs windows overnight and to consider the risk of sneak-in burglaries during the day.
