Laptop scam in Spalding

Police in Spalding are warning members of the public about a scam where people are being approached with an offer of a reduced price laptop but the item is never received. .

Reports of such incidents were received on Friday 13th April on London Road, Spalding and earlier today on St Thomas Road, Spalding. Members of the public have been approached by two males who have shown them a laptop and offer to sell it at a reduced price. The men are believed to be driving a Silver Vauxhall. Once the men have driven off and the laptop case is opened it becomes apparent that the case is actually filled with a heavy catalogue and cardboard instead.

PC Tony Hatton is urging residents of Spalding and across Lincolnshire to be aware of this scam. "The victims of this scam are obviously very distressed and have parted with a considerable amount of money. We are asking for anyone with any information to come forward, whether they have been approached by these men or have been sold one of these 'laptops'."

Anyone with any information should contact 101.
