Heating Oil Theft Warning - North and South Kesteven

Police are urging county residents who use heating oil to review their security after an increase in thefts.

Over the last week or so the following offences have taken place in the North and South Kesteven areas.

  • Around 100 gallons of heating oil was stolen from a property off Broad Fen Lane, Claypole, on October 13.
  • Around 300 litres were stolen overnight on October 13/14 from a property in Summerfield Close, Dry Doddington
  • And around £650 worth was stolen from a tank at Haverholme Park, Sleaford, over the weekend.

Officers are urging residents to consider a wide range of crime prevention options including the location of the tank, alarms, lighting, and defensive planting.

Police are appealing for vigilance in rural areas and asking people to report suspicious people and vehicles as soon as possible. Vehicle registration number are extremely useful in terms of tracking offenders and officers are urging members of the public to jot them down if possible.
