Op Alchemist - Sudden Death, Addlethorpe Funeral Arranged

A funeral is to be held on Tuesday 27 July for the baby boy whose body was discovered at the Greenstar UK Ltd recycling plant in Mill Lane, Addlethorpe on 15 October last year.

The baby, who has been named Jacob, will be laid to rest at a graveside service at St Nicholas’ Church in Addlethorpe at 2.30pm.

A local businessman has donated a sum of money for a memorial and to ensure Jacob has a respectable funeral but Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Gibbon, the senior investigating officer in the case, is saddened that there will be no family present.

“This has been a difficult and sensitive case and, after many months of exhaustive enquiries, it is time for this baby to rest in peace”, said DCI Gibbon. “The mother must have suffered a great deal of anguish since last October and this is a final opportunity for her to come forward and have the chance to say  goodbye to her son”.

Although Police hold a full DNA profile of the mother, there are no matches on any database and it has not been possible to trace her.

DCI Gibbon made one final appeal, saying “This has been a tragic incident and somebody somewhere must have information.  I would urge anyone who believes they know who Jacob’s mother is to contact me in confidence on my direct number 01754 614315. If you don’t want to give your name, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111”.

DCI Gibbon will be available on either Thursday or Friday afternoon this week for interview.  Please call Nerys McGarry to arrange.
