Paul Romans, 30, from Kingsley Road in Mablethorpe and Leonard Remzi, 41, of Camelot Gardens in Sutton on Sea have been charged with three offences of burglary of a dwelling and one offence of commercial burglary.

Appeal To Trace Stolen Property

Skegness CID have recovered various items of stolen property following a recent spate of burglaries in the area and they are keen to trace the owners.

In particular, detectives would like to find the owners of two distinctive white bathrobes which may have been used to wrap stolen items during a burglary.

DC Mandy Manson from Skegness CID said, “It is possible that these bath robes were used during a sneak-in burglary that hasn’t been reported to us.  This may have occurred anywhere along the coastal strip from Skegness to Mablethorpe and would ask anyone who recognises the bath robes to get in contact with us”.

The robes are white towelling robes and one of them has the label ‘Richard Haworth Luxury Robes’.  The other has no label but retains a sticker reading ‘Designer Guild Tribecca’.

DC Manson would also like to trace the owner of a Vega MP4 player that is still in its original box.

Anyone who recognises the items is asked to contact DC Manson on 01754 614235

Jamie Still Missing One Year On

A year after the disappearance of a 30-year old Grainthorpe man, Lincolnshire Police have launched a renewed appeal for information concerning his whereabouts

James Frances Gower, known as Jamie, was last seen in the Scartho area of Grimsby on Monday 13 April 2009 when he spent some time with a friend.  There have been no positive sightings of Jamie since then, but his moped was recovered in Baysgarth Park, Barton on Tuesday 21 April 2009, having been stolen from an area close to the Old Mill public house car park in Barton where it had been left secured with a crash helmet.  Although police cannot be certain, they believe the moped had been left in the car park sometime over last year’s April Bank holiday weekend.

Numerous enquiries by Humberside Police and Lincolnshire Police have been carried out during the last twelve months in a bid to trace Jamie including checking of CCTV cameras in areas where Jamie was thought to have gone, house-to-house enquiries, hospital checks, financial enquiries, a national Missing Persons Bureau circulation and land and airborne searches.  A poster campaign in the Barton on Humber area and an advert through the national charity Missing People in the Daily Mirror have all been undertaken, but so far no confirmed sightings have been forthcoming.

Jamie is described as white, around 6’1” tall and of slim build with short brown hair, blue eyes and dark coloured heavy eyebrows.  It is unclear what Jamie was wearing, however, police have two descriptions of clothing possibly worn at the time:

  • Light blue jeans, white t-shirt, sandy-coloured Rigger boots or white trainers, navy blue fleece with sandy coloured lining and carrying a blue and black Euro-hike rucksack.
  • Grey coloured hoody with navy blue stripes on the sleeves, light blue jeans, white trainers, very dark blue Peter Storm hooded cagoule and carrying a khaki-coloured shoulder bag.

DCI Stuart Gibbon from Lincolnshire Police who has lead the enquiry for the past year said, “There have been no confirmed sightings of Jamie since last Easter and, although his family worry that he may have come to some harm, everybody remains hopeful that he will come home.  If Jamie does not want to tell anybody where he is, that is fine but we just want to know that he is safe and well so urge him to get in touch”.

Anyone with any information about Jamie should contact Lincolnshire Police on 0300 111 0300 quoting incident number 200 of 24/4/09.

PHOTOGRAPHS - Available from Nerys McGarry are a number of photographs of Jamie, released at the time of the police briefing in May.  Jamie’s family do not wish to participate in any media interviews at this time.

On Course To Change Behaviour

A six week course designed to address the attitudes and behaviour of young people is due to begin in Kirton on May 11.

It follows a very successful pilot course that ran in March for ten youths who had been engaged in minor criminality and anti-social behaviour.

The course will primarily be based at Kirton Fire Station but will include many external visits that are being kept secret until the last moment.

PC Simon Oswin, Anti-Social Behaviour Officer at Boston Police initiated the pilot course and is looking forward to working with a new group of young people.

“The course is structured to highlight the effects that a single person’s actions can have on so many people,” PC Oswin explained, “We have arranged a very intense programme and in order to maintain the impact, we are not telling the participants what to expect beforehand”.

Lincolnshire Police have been supported by many other agencies in organising the course which will culminate in an award ceremony on 29 June at Kirton Fire Station where the students will be congratulated on their efforts and be presented with certificates.

PC Oswin ended by saying, “The aim of this course is to influence how young people look at themselves and their behaviour and to have a positive effect on their future actions.  They will appreciate that there is a chain reaction to their offending which will affect not only their lives but the lives of others for many years to come”.

The course programme is available from Nerys McGarry for your information but not for advance publication as discussed.  PC Simon Oswin is contactable directly on 07788 754846 and will be pleased to accommodate a reporter each week for photographs and further detail about each module of the course.
