Roads Policing Officers in Baby Dash and Delivery - Incident 561 of 26 March 2010
On the night of Friday 26 March two Roads Policing Officers, P.C. Rob McCracken and P.C. Michael Hesketh were on duty when their attention was drawn to a vehicle that screeched alongside them at the Bulls Head lights in Lincoln. After a short conversation with the driver, Mr John Milne it was established the reason for the emergency. Stacey Milne was heavily in labour, and the officers escorted them, along with their seven-year-old son James and two-year-old daughter Felicity, to Lincoln County Hospital.
A combination of a journey from Tattershall and nature taking its course meant that by the time they arrived in the car park at Lincoln County Hospital there was no time for Mrs Milne to be removed from the car, and so P.C. Rob McCracken assumed the role of midwife. Baby Isabelle was subsequently safely delivered into a police fleece.
P.C. McCracken says, "The initial intention to escort the Milne family safely to hospital turned out to be much more eventful than we anticipated". "It was great to have such a positive outcome to the evening, in the shape of lovely baby Isabelle". "We are pleased that mum and daughter are both doing well and pass on our congratulations to the family".
Note to editors - The Milne family are happy for publicity. Please make contact via Headquarters Press Office on 01522 558026.
