Domestic abuse is a crime that cuts across all social, cultural and religious boundaries
Nationally, 1 in 4 women will experience domestic abuse at some point in their lives as will 1 in 6 men - with the police receiving a call about domestic abuse every minute in the UK. 2 women are murdered every week in England and Wales at the hands of their partners or ex-partners.
Lincolnshire Police actively encourages the reporting of domestic abuse and will take all such reports seriously and works with a number of partner agencies to address domestic abuse.
Domestic abuse is a crime that cuts across all social, cultural and religious boundaries. It has far reaching consequences for victims, witnesses, their families and the wider community. Domestic abuse can affect everyone - together we can stop it in Lincolnshire.
Domestic abuse can be any incident or pattern of incidents of controlling, coercive or threatening behaviour, violence or abuse between those aged 16 or over who are or have been intimate partners or family members regardless of gender or sexuality.

Lincolnshire Police is pro-active and committed to holding domestic abuse offenders accountable and will arrest given reasonable grounds. The police are no longer reliant upon the victim's statement to do this and will pursue domestic abusers independently.

Current legislation and definition confirms that Domestic abuse occurs between adults or young people aged 16 or over. Lincolnshire Police recognises that domestic abuse does not commence on a person’s 18th birthday and that young people are subjected to abuse by intimate / ex intimate partners before this age.

Lincolnshire Police have today (Monday 8th February), launched the third phase of Operation NOVA (No to Violence and Abuse). This video features, harrowing real domestic abuse 999 calls made to the police.
