Police have arrested and charged three men with conspiracy to steal metal from more than 20 churches.
In the culmination of a six month intelligence-led operation, officers executed synchronised warrants at four addresses in Lincoln yesterday morning.
Three people were arrested and charged with thefts and conspiracy to steal and one was released on police bail pending further enquires:
- Tadas Andruska (35), of Roman Pavement, Lincoln: Charged with conspiracy to steal in relation to the theft of lead from 22 churches – a separate charge of theft of lead from a church at Sutterton between April 15 and April 18 last year – a further charge of theft of lead from a church at Little Dalby in Leicestershire between August 23 and August 26 last year.
- Andrius Cereska (30), of Laceby Street, Lincoln: Charged with conspiracy to steal in relation to the theft of lead from 22 churches – a separate charge of theft of lead from a church at Sutterton between April 15 and April 18 last year – a further charge of theft of lead from a church at Little Dalby in Leicestershire between August 23 and August 26 last year.
- Andrius Kvedavas (29), of Maple Street, Lincoln: Charged with conspiracy to steal in relation to the theft of lead from 22 churches – a separate charge of theft of lead from a church at Sutterton between April 15 and April 18 last year – a further charge of theft of lead from a church at Little Dalby in Leicestershire between August 23 and August 26 last year.
A 39-year-old local man was arrested, questioned and released on police bail pending further enquiries till April 25.
All of the charged offenders will appear at Grantham Magistrates Court this morning. Please call the court for the outcome.
