The Government requires every police force in England and Wales to assess how the public feels about the police service it receives locally. This is done through two large scale telephone surveys that each force conducts continuously through the year.
One survey, the "User Satisfaction" survey, assesses the levels of 'service related satisfaction' of victims of crime and of those individuals involved in road collisions. The second survey asks about the feelings of the general public towards anti-social behaviour, crime, feelings of safety, engagement and public confidence in the local police force.
