Promotion

All police officers start their careers as constables, and must pass qualifying exams to progress to the ranks of sergeant and inspector. All promotions are decided on merit and competition is strong, but, if you want it, and you're good enough, it's there for the taking. If you are ambitious and display the necessary personal qualities, the High Potential Development Scheme is a fast track way of reaching the higher ranks.

Flexible Working

You can apply for flexible working.  However, initial training, street duties training and continuation training must be completed on a full time basis. This includes, as a minimum, the first 32 weeks of the probationary period.  Requests for flexible working should be discussed with HR staff during your initial stages of training.

Child Care Support

A child care voucher scheme providing tax benefits is available.

Cycle2work

Under the scheme, you can apply to have a hire agreement for up to £1,000 to hire a bike and safety equipment (from any Halfords store) to use to commute to work.  This provides tax and national insurance benefits.

Pension Scheme

Lincolnshire Police participates in the National Police Pension Scheme.

Staff Support Networks

Lincolnshire Police is committed to fair treatment and providing equality of opportunity, both in the delivery of service to the community and in the employment of staff. We welcome applications from all sections of the community particularly those who are female or from a minority ethnic background.

Higher Potential Development Scheme

The police service needs high-calibre leaders who can meet the challenges of the future. This scheme provides the opportunity for Student Officers with the right potential to advance swiftly to the highest levels in the police service.

You can apply to join the scheme whether you are a graduate or not.
