Schedule 7 Terrorism Act 2000
Where an aircraft is employed to carry passengers for reward on a journey between Great Britain and the CTA*, the owners or agents shall not arrange for it to call at a port in Great Britain or Northern Ireland to disembark or embark passengers unless the port is a designated port or the examining Police Officer approves the arrangement.
The captain (pilot) of an aircraft employed on a journey within the CTA* otherwise than to carry passengers for reward shall not permit it to call at or leave a port in Great Britain or Northern Ireland unless it is a designated port or he gives at least 12 hours notice in writing to a constable for the Police area in which the port is situated.
*CTA (Common Travel Area) - Eire, Northern Ireland, Isle Of Man and Channel Islands including but not limited to Jersey and Guernsey.
Make a flight notification during office hours
Flight notifications to Lincolnshire Police Special Branch Ports Unit can be made Monday to Friday 08:00 to 16:00, excluding Bank Holidays. Please ensure you comply with the 12 hour rule or your flight will not be authorised.
To make a notification and/or seek authorisation for a flight to/from the CTA;
- Fully complete a GAR
- Fax or email the GAR to the ATC of the airfield you are flying to/from, if emailing please ensure the email 'Subject' field has "GENERAL AVIATION REPORT" entered in it
- That ATC will send the document to Special Branch
- Special Branch will fax or email the ATC with authorisation
- If the flight is to or from a private landing strip, fax the GAR direct to Special Branch at the fax number below

Flight notifications to Lincolnshire Police Special Branch can be made outside office hours Monday to Friday before 08:00 or after 16:00, including Bank Holidays. Please ensure you comply with the 12 hour rule or your flight will not be authorised.
To make a notification and/or seek authorisation for a flight to/from the CTA;
- Fully complete a General Aviation Report (GAR)
- Call Lincolnshire Police Call Handling Centre and ask to make a flight notification.
- Fax or email the General Aviation Report (GAR) to Lincolnshire Police Force Control Room, if emailing please ensure the email 'Subject' field has "GENERAL AVIATION REPORT" entered in it
- The Call Handling Centre will fax or email the ATC with authorisation

Guidance notes for completing a General Aviation Report
- The PDF format document must be completed in block capitals and faxed
- Ensure your aircraft details are recorded in the correct fields
- Ensure both inbound and outbound details are completed if applicable
- Ensure the visit reason and VAT/circulation questions are answered
- Ensure all crew and passengers details are completed, including whether they will be on board for the "In" and/or the "Out" journey
- Ensure you include a contact number for the crew
Ensure the person completing the General Aviation Report (GAR) signs or adds their name
