Savings of around £20 million

Changing Times LogoThe Chief Constable of Lincolnshire has said that following the Comprehensive Spending Review, like all other forces in the country we will need to save about 15% of our current budget over the next four years and in real terms this amounts to around £20 million.

Eighty per cent of our costs are spent on staffing so inevitably that is where the major part of the savings will have to be found. It will mean a completely different way of working and it will also mean that officer numbers will reduce and some support staff posts will be lost.

One Operational Policing Area

Some changes have already taken place. On 31st May 2011 we moved from our previous three Basic Command Units based at Lincoln, Grantham and Skegness to a 'whole force' operational policing area. This has given us more flexibility in the deployment of officers to operational incidents and because of that will actually improve the level of service we provide.

New Policing Areas Map (Draft)Visible Policing

Our officers that are most visible to the public are those in our Neighbourhood Policing Teams across the county. We have increased the size of neighbourhood policing teams in every area. Enter your postcode, street, village or town below to find you local team.

Additionally, we have streamlined the work carried out by our Neighbourhood Response teams, freeing them up from lots of paperwork so that they can patrol our communities and respond to emergencies.

Invisible Policing

Behind the scenes are many more policing teams, units and departments hundreds of officers and staff members dedicated to the cause of keeping our communities as safe and as crime-free as possible. These provide our response to the most serious crimes and the potential threats from which the public must be protected. They are a key priority for Lincolnshire Police and an integral part of our mission to protect the public and to ensure that the public have confidence in us and feel safe. We have reorganised our structure for crime investigation. There is further work continuing regarding collaborating with our regional colleagues to provide resilience.
